Emmy and Golden Globe winner Scott Winant serves as executive producer of the Sony Pictures Television original drama series HUFF, for Showtime. Additionally, Winant directed the premiere episode.
First recognized for his work on “thirtysomething,” coming from his creative association with Ed Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz, Winant was the exclusive showrunner of the series for its entire four year run. He was instrumental in establishing the show’s unique style of cinematic storytelling, which earned him an Emmy for best directing.
Other awards over the years include an additional Emmy for producing, a Golden Globe, three Humanitas Awards, a Peabody Award, Monitor Award, New York Film Festival’s Gold Medal (for directing) and two Television Critics Association Awards, as well as two additional Emmy and DGA nominations for best directing.
Winant has directed and produced several television pilots into series, including the critically acclaimed “My So-Called Life,” which earned him another Emmy nomination. His other pilots include “Cupid,” “Sherman’s March,” “Get Real,” “Significant Others,” “Earth 2,” “Georgetown,” “The L Word,” “Graham” and “Anna Says.” He has also contributed as a director to the Emmy award-winning dramas “The West Wing” and “The Shield.”
For the big screen, Winant directed the feature film “Til There Was You,” starring Jeanne Tripplehorn, Dylan McDermott and Sarah Jessica Parker.
Most recently, under his own production banner, Winant developed and produced the critically acclaimed new HBO series “Carnivale,” and directed the two-hour pilot for the successful Showtime series “Dead Like Me.”
Since 1996, Winant’s company Twilight Time Films has sold dozens of television projects to all the major networks. Currently the company is moving more aggressively into feature film development.
